How many times have you done something in anger, and then thought differently about your reaction when you have calmed down?

When you get angry, try this first, and then decide on your course of action. You’ll calm down and also reduce the effects of stress on your body and your mind. Chances are that later on you won’t regret your reaction to the situation.

1) Move away from the situation. Leave the room if you need to. Sit in a chair and close your eyes. Imagine you are seeing a STOP sign. Take a few deep breaths.

2) Clench your fists and your toes as you inhale. Relax them as you exhale. DO this 3 times.

3) Shrug your shoulders as you inhale. Relax them as you exhale. Do this 3 times.

4) Inhale and tilt your head to the left. Exhale as you straighten you head. Repeat to the right.

5) Open your eyes and review the situation. Decide on your reaction.

The hardest part of this exercise is to leave the stressful area. Once you have mastered that part of the situation, it will be get easier for you to handle stressful situations.

Good luck!
